Canon Frank Logue Nominee for Bishop of East Tennessee

The Diocese of East Tennessee announced today that the Rev. Canon Frank Logue is one of five nominees for their fifth bishop. A Search and Nominating Committee selected the nominees in a lengthy process which began in June, 2016 with listening sessions around the Diocese. This led to the development of a Bishop Search Profile and then receiving names and interviewing potential nominees to arrive at this slate.

“None of us are surprised that the Diocese of East Tennessee has selected Frank to be a candidate for their next bishop,” said Bishop Scott Anson Benhase. “He is both gifted and enormously qualified for that office. We will all pray for their mutual discernment in the election on July 28.”

Logue has served as the Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese of Georgia since 2010. He previously served as the founding rector of King of Peace, Kingsland and served that parish ten years. Logue also serves the broader church as a member of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church.

The Diocese of East Tennessee comprises 34 counties in the state of Tennessee and three counties in North Georgia, with the Cumberland Plateau as the western border. Within this area are 51 congregations, including 45 parishes, three college chaplaincies, and three worshiping communities.

From July 10-14, the Diocese of East Tennessee will hold what are called walkabouts, a series of gatherings in which the people of the diocese meet the nominees. The election for the fifth Bishop of East Tennessee will take place at the Cathedral of St. John in Knoxville on July 28. The bishop-elect will be consecrated December 2, 2017.
