Retired Deacon Dudley Lippitt, the third woman to be ordained a deacon in the Diocese of Georgia, recently donated to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Albany, where she served for more than a decade, a specially prepared book of her sermons. The book now is in the "St. Paul's Room," accessible to all. Re-enacting the presentation are present St. Paul's deacon Jim Purks, left, and proudly standing next to Deacon Dudley is her husband, Sam Lippitt, who lovingly collected the sermons--and some photographs to accompany them--and arranged for the printing of this valuable collection. (Thanks to Jim Purks for this news item.)

REVISED DEACON VISITATION SCHEDULE

The Archbishop of Canterbury's Easter Message

Presiding Bishop's Easter Message

Alleluia!

Our Easter song

is more than a word.

It is, as St. Augustine tells us, a way of being

"from head to toe."

Christ rises in every particle of our being

and through baptism

we are part of him:

limbs and members of his risen body

and ministers of his deathless, reckless

reconciling love.

May we be given the grace

to embody our Easter song

for the sake of the world.

An Advent message from the Presiding Bishop: "In this season of Advent, as we make our way toward Bethlehem and ponder once again the great mystery of the Incarnation, I find myself reflecting upon the fact that speech or word is the medium of divine self-disclosure: "the word was made flesh and lived among us." I am also reminded that in Hebrew dabar, which means word, also can mean event or occurrence. Words are not only spoken, they happen.. . .  (Click HERE for the complete message.)

A Christmas message from the Archbishop of Canterbury: "The question never quite goes away of why God made a world in which . . .  tragedy is possible. But Christmas reminds us of the one thing we know for sure - and that is God's way of responding to suffering. He doesn't wave a magic wand, or descend briefly from the sky to clean things up. He arrives on earth as a human being who will change things simply by the completeness of his love. . . . (Click HERE for the complete message.)
