Homiletics

Requirements:

            Present a sermon during Homiletics workshop

            Compile a portfolio for Homiletics workshop sermon

            Evaluations/analysis and record of conferencing with Homiletics chaplain

Compile a second portfolio for a homily to be presented during a Deacon’s weekend worship

            Interview two persons in charge of pastoral care, develop a pastoral care plan

Attend CPE, Hospice, Community of Hope, Stephen Ministry, or Grace Corps training

Discuss being an advisor regarding ethical decisions

Design plan for self-care and self-awareness

Prepare the Altar Missal for many different services

Articulate differences between Rites I and II

Name each vestment, vessel and Lenin used at the altar

Prepare altar vessels for Eucharist

Answer “what if” questions related to problems around a service

Demonstrate public reading skills

Articulate liturgical role when assisting the Bishop

Christian Ethics

Requirements:

After weekend seminar, complete a theological reflection on ethical issues and reasoning involved in the resolution

At least one case study with current issues of faith in the church, community or world; identifying the issues involved and proposed resolutions

 

 

 

 

 

Diaconate and Diakonia

            “Many Servants” by Plater

Requirements met either in writing or orally:

Survey scriptural and historical roots of the Diaconate

Survey diaconal aspects of BCP

Address contemporary need for the Diaconate

Design a particular parish ministry by identifying the rational for a choice of ministry and strategies for recruiting and motivating parishioners to participate

Presentation of responses to  8-10 situations according to BCP rubrics and canons
