“Spiritual Direction: The Gift of Discovery” The Rev.Deacon Geri Nelson "The more profound the silence, the more focused we may become on the Spirit of God drawing near to us. The Consecration of the 10th Bishop of Georgia The Right Reverend Scott Anson Benhase
NEWS! Congratulations to Dcn. Jim Purks, who received a certificate for completing educational requirements for RTS (Resolve Through Sharing) Bereavement Training in early pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and newborn death. He was one of five volunteer chaplains from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital asked to participate in the two-day workshop, conducted by specialists of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation, Inc. of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The foundation conducts these workshops throughout the nation. The trainers were Joni Yanda, prenatal education, lactation and grief coordinator of The Medical Center of Plano, TX, and Darryl Owens, women's services chaplain and grief counselor at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill. As Dcn. Jim says, "It was intense, at times deeply emotional and spiritual, and empowering. On my volunteer chaplain rounds, a key part of my ministry is visiting the two NICUs (Neonatal Intensive Care units) at Phoebe."
