Ministry Groups
What a wonderful day at Little Ocmulgee State Park. It was great
seeing old
friend and new faces. Ideas and hope were in bloom.
On the way home Willetta and I had much to discuss. One idea we
had was
Ministry Groups. Many of us share the same or related ministries,
and sharing
stories, lessons and ideas would help us in those ministries.
For example: a group for those involved in prison ministry would
also
include those interested in reaching youth before they go to
prison, and those
who see a need to help parolees assimilate back into the
community. By sharing
experiences, tips and resources, each person in the goup would
learn and grow
exponentially in the ministry, with greater benefit to the
Diocese.
Originally intended for Deacons, we have come to believe inclusion
of
laypersons would not only help the ministry, but may result in
others discerning
the call to the Diaconate.
To get things started, I am willing to act as a “clearing house”
for
information. If you think you may be interested, send my your
name, email , and
ministries in which you are involved or interested. I will compile
the information
and send it out. (Perhaps it could be posted on the website?) In
this way, you can
not only find others in your ministry, but possibly others which
call to you. It will
then be up to each of you to “reach out and touch someone.”
To avoid confusion, please send the information to my alternate
email:
