Be a Part of the Youth Commission!
The youth commission consists of 12 adults appointed by the bishop, and 12 teens (grades 10-12), elected by their peers annually at the Fall Rally weekend in August. This event is the “kick off” event for the year. One youth is elected from each of the six convocations and six “at large” members to represent the youth of the diocese. YC members serve from September to August. The commission meets about six times each year including an overnight retreat and two days of Diocesan Convention. They plan all of the youth events, excluding New Beginnings and Happening, and supporting youth ministry in the local congregation are the main tasks of the YC. The Youth Director spearheads this commission and the youth co-presidents take on a majority of the visible leadership. The adult members provide critical support for the teens in their ministry.
Happening… A Christian Experience
Three weekends are held each year for teens in grades 10-12 attending as candidates. A steering committee made up of youth and adults from each convocation meets three times a year to select the staff for the upcoming Happening. There are Happening reunion groups led by volunteer adults and youth in some communities across the diocese. Jody Grant (706-738-5774) serves as the volunteer Lay Coordinator of the Happening program.
Two weekends are held each year with teens from grades 7-9. A steering committee made up of youth and adults from each convocation meet to select the team for the upcoming New Beginnings weekend. The volunteer Lay Coordinators of New Beginnings are Rylan Smith (478- 455-1331) & Bobby Steinhauser (912-713-6346)

Honey Creek: The Next Generation
This group was formed by members of the youth in the diocese to help raise money for Honey Creek in order for Honey Creek to continue its ministry with hospitability and service. The youth have enjoyed Honey Creek through the years with the many youth events and camps that they had attended, and by forming this committee they feel that they are giving back to something that has given them so much through the years. All proceeds go to the improvement and continuation of the Episcopal Camp and Conference Center of the Diocese of Georgia, lovingly called Honey Creek.
